Before You Make Any Promises, Talk To Your Legal Team

When you are discussing custody with your former partner, it is helpful to have an understanding of the process. This means that meeting with an attorney can be a vital step in keeping your child at the forefront of the discussion by giving you the tools you need to know your rights. Make a point to learn about your role before you make any hasty decisions.

The state of Connecticut has its own rules regarding custody, so knowing these can be a help in your process. The stakes are high when it comes to raising your child, and by having the information that you need, you can make informed decisions at every step along the way. Talk with a trusted local attorney about your situation and give yourself a greater understanding of the topic.

What Is A Parenting Plan, And How Can It Help?

Custody negotiations can be a difficult thing to manage, and in our state, the court system has a say in the end result. You two are not without your own intentions, however, and the main course of action is through what is called a parenting plan.

Parenting plans can detail many aspects of how your child is to be raised, and they essentially outline the rights and responsibilities of each parent. These can include important subjects such as vital health decisions and even religious upbringing.
