Connecticut Has Clear Laws In Place To Protect Each Spouse During Divorce

Discussing financial division in a divorce is rarely a simple task, but luckily, the law is fairly clear about what is necessary. Here in the state of Connecticut, the courts require that during divorce, finances are divided in an “equitable” manner. While this does not necessarily mean “equal,” this can serve as a rough guide for you to start thinking about your next steps.

Also, in Connecticut, we have some rules that are different than other states. For instance, in our state, you cannot separate any personal property from that which is shared with your spouse. This means that everything you own is potentially on the table, and working alongside a trusted local lawyer can help you to keep the things that are most important to you.
